[Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group VI] To impart cyclic variations to the speed of revolution of a roller 1, the roller is driven through one or more pairs of helical gears and an axial reciprocating movement is given to one of the gears of each pair. The axial reciprocation may be effected by a lever actuated by an eccentric or as shown by a fixed pin 10 engaging a cam groove 9 in a disc 5 keyed to the driving shaft 3 and integral with the helical gear 6.
