426,333. Reciprocating pumps. LOGETTE, A. I., and DAINTON, E. H., Skyhi Works, Standard Road, Park Royal, London. Sept. 2, 1933, No. 24423. [Class 102 (i)] [See also Group XXVI] The power cylinders of air motors, air pumps, &c. are operated by compressed air distributed by separate inlet and exhaust valves 4, 5 operated by spring-actuated slides 1 provided with a cam surfaces 16 for lifting the inlet valve and tappet means for operating the exhaust valves. The valve-gear rod 19 has a head operating between springs s, s arranged in the piston of the power cylinder r, and is connected to the slide 1 which has grooves engaged by spring-pressed plungers 21 in the two positions of the rod. A spring-pressed exhaust valve 5 is housed in the end of a perforated cap 10 screwed on the casing, and has a stem provided with a pin 5d operated by the ends of a slot 18 in the slide. A bore 11 in the slide, ending in ports 12, 13, puts the cylinder into communication with the valvechest. Grooves in the slide head 1a permit the exhaust of fluid. The piston q1, q2 is acted on by a spring r1, and is connected to a plunger p of a lubricating-pump arranged above a grease container a provided with a plunger b subject to air-pressure on its right-hand side, and communicating with the pump barrel on its left-hand side. The head d of the container is provided with a yoke f to receive a handscrew e. The power cylinder r is supported by a strap a2 and a boss k2 on the pump barrel. The container a is mounted on castors x. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, a compressedair operated pump is connected with a highpressure delivery chamber c to form lubricating- apparatus for use with a grease keg a. The pump barrel ax is mounted upon a base d which rests upon the keg which is mounted upon a platform a1 provided with castors a2. The casing e at the bottom of the barrel has an inlet valve f and a ball discharge valve g. Two pistons i, i1 connected by a rod i2 are provided. The upper piston is operated by compressedair and spring j. The springs s, s1 which operate the rod 19 are housed in the rod i2. Compressed air is supplied to the chests by pipes 9, 9a. The piston i forces grease from the barrel ax to the chamber c where it is acted on by the plunger p.
