385,156. Machines for washing dishes and other domestic utensils. GODFREY, G. A., 53, Paxford Road, North Wembley, Middlesex. March 23, 1932, No. 8687 and 26805. [Class 138 (i).] A container 10 is provided with one or more pairs of upright rotary sprayers 14 between which the dishes or other articles to be washed are interposed. Each sprayer comprises a boss 12 fitted with hollow radial arms terminating in tangential nozzles 15 and is caused to revolve by the action of water issuing from the nozzles. The dishes are supported in racks which rest on bands 17 of an endless conveyer and are slowly moved past the sprays, the conveyer being driven by means of a hand-wheel 29 which also drives a pump 32 supplying water to the sprayers 14. The pump takes water from the bottom portion of the tank which is separated from the top portion by a strainer 31. Each dish rack comprises a number of U-shaped wire frames 40 connected by a wire 41 and supported by feet 42 adapted to rest on the conveyer bands 17. Screw-and-nut means 23 are provided for adjusting the tension of the bands. The conveyer and pump instead of being operated manually may be operated by a motor. The dish racks may be modified to hold cups or glasses and cutlery. Stationary sprayers may be provided to assist the rotary sprayers.
