235,109. Williamson, G. E., Hart, E. A., and Hart & Co., Ltd., D. Feb. 3, 1925. Steelyard apparatus. -Relates to a steelyard for weighing in two or more standards and consists in providing the sliding poise weight with a movable positioning nib so shaped that it can only be brought into co-operation with the various graduated faces of the steelyard when correctly set. As shown, the steelyard 3 has two bevel faces 4, 5 notched and graduated respectively to give readings in cwts and kilos. The positioning nibs 9, 10 are carried on a pin 6 projecting from the end of the poise weight 1, and have a dovetailed extension 16 which bears against one side or the other of the steelyard. The threaded portion of an operating knob 8 extends into a recess 15 in the pin 6 to limit rocking movement of the nibs. To change to the second weight system as given upon the bevel face 4, the poise is moved to the extreme right of the steelyard until the dovetailed extension 16 clears the end thereof after which the nibs are rocked upon the pin 6 within the limit of the recess 15 so as to bring the nib 10 over the notched face 4. If the operation be correctly performed the side 16b of the extension 16 will clear the side 17 of the steelyard and the poise may be returned along the steelyard for correct co-operation with the bevel face 4.
