Ammonium nitrate; sodium bi-carbonate.- Ammonium nitrate is obtained by reaction between sodium nitrate and ammonium bicarbonate or its components in the manner described in Specification 16,455/10;'but after the separation of the precipitated sodium bicarbonate, the solution is concentrated by evaporation until the ratio of sodium nitrate to water is the same as that in a solution saturated with regard to sodium nitrate and ammoniun nitrate at the temperature to which the solution is to be finally cooled for the separation of ammonium citrate. This final temperature may be 25‹ C., and artificial cooling is unnecessary, although it may be used if desired.
