Chemical reactions in which, before their completion, a state of equilibrium is attained, are rendered practically complete by passing the reaction materials through a series of vessels at a suitable temperature, between each of which the reaction product or a part thereof is removed by cooling, whereby the equilibrium is destroyed and the reaction allowed to proceed afresh in the next vessel.
