Buckets; chemicals; fire-extinguishing by foam.-Foam-producing materials for fire-extinguishing are maintained separate in compartments of a bucket or container so arranged that the materials mix on discharge from the bucket. Fig. 1 shows a form in which one solution is placed in the outer compartment 10 and the other in the inner compartment 11 of the bucket. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the bucket is provided with partitions 13, by which four compartments are formed, similar solution being placed in opposite compartments. In another form, the four compartments are formed by means of a removable inner container. When not in use, the buckets are covered with a lid, Fig. 4, in which the lid 15 is shown fitting in a groove containing paraffin or other material to make an air-tight joint clips 15a of bendable material being provided to hold it in position. The two solutions may consist of an 11 per cent. solution of aluminium sulphate and a solution containing 8 per cent. sodium bicarbonate and 3 per cent. " Foamite." The composition of " Foamite " is given in Specification 118,533.
