[Addition to 28,162/10.] Cupping &c.-Relates to improvements in apparatus in which pleated capsules, souffle cups, &c. are formed by means of a pair of grooved conical creasing-dies and an internal grooved conical co-axial plunger which coacts with a series of pivoted pleating-blades. According to the present invention, (1) the conical plunger b, Fig. 1, is formed with a spring- pressed cap which coacts with the ejector h arranged in the lower dies while the capsule is being formed, and acts to eject the finished capsule from the plunger after it has been ejected from the lower dies; and (2) the movable pleating-blades are replaced by fixed blades m, Fig. 3, secured by a ring n in oblique slits in the socket; and, as shown in Fig. 5, these blades m may be formed with portions thickened and curved in directions to assist the tucking of the pleats into position.
