9312. Mavor & Coulson, and Mavor, S. M. April 15. Drawings to Specification. Laying dust.-A spray of water is projected on the cuttings, as they are drawn out of the cut made by a cutter-bar machine, by means of a nozzle or nozzles directed downwards towards the root of the cutter-bar, or, when the machine is inverted, directed upwards or from the sides to the root of the bar. The spray may be adjustable. The water may be supplied by a pump driven from a shaft of the machine, such as the shaft driving the haulage drum, and placed in the casing of the machine or in a separate casing ; or the water may be supplied from a closed tank from which it is forced by air from the supply pipe leading to the machine.
