Stamp-applying.-In machines for affixing postage stamps the reels for stamps of different values are detachably mounted in a frame, which is slidable to bring stamps of any desired value into engagement with the affixing-mechanism and carries a counter for each strip of stamps. The reels 6 are carried in a frame 1 by a spindle 7 secured by a catch 16 engaging in a groove in the spindle. When the spindle is withdrawn, the reels are so supported by fixed bars that, on the re-insertion of the spindle, its pointed end passes easily through the reels and raises them from the supporting-bars. The strips are led through guideways beneath flat springs 12 and beneath wires to prevent them from curling. The frame 1 is rotatably and slidably mounted on a shaft 4, and is supported by a bar 5. A handle 8 for adjusting the frame slides in a slotted bar 9 and is provided with a spring detent 10 engaging in notches 11 in the bar 9. Counters 34 are carried by a bridge 17 on the frame 1.
