558. Adams, E., and Binks, A. Jan. 9. Turrets are provided with a system of rapidly revolving shields. The outer portion of the turret is of spherical shape divided into two parts a, a1 arranged some distance apart to form a gun port. The parts a, a' revolve in a horizontal plane, the part a being rotated by the shaft b operated from the motor c.and the part a1 rotated by the wheels d' operating the rack d. The space between the parts a, a1 is protected by a series of disks f rapidly rotated through the gearing f 3. In a modification, the lower part of the turret is made conical.
