Cimbination tools. - An entrenching and pioneering tool has a spade,shaped to act as a pick or axe, with a hinged hollow shaft which contains a picketing-peg or other article, and the hinged portion of which acts a s a wire cutter. A spade blade 10 is pointed to act as a pick, and has wings 12 sharpened for use as an axe. The spade handle or shaft 13 is of metal tubing, and has a joint consisting of a metal link 14 pivoted to tongues 15, 16. This link is of such a length that the two sections when folded can lie side by side as in Fig. 4. The various members are kept in position by a sleeve 17 forming a bayonet-joint with a pin 21 and abutting against a stop 20. A cross-handle 23 may be fixed to the shaft or may be detachable and have fixed to it a picketing-peg which can be inserted into the hollow shaft and held by a spring catch. The link 14 and the lower portion of the shaft may be used as a wire cutter by forming recesses 24, 25 and holding the link 14 by the sleeve 17 as in Fig. 6.
