8342. Lennox, A. B., and Mackenzie, T. April 19. Evaporators.-Relates to apparatus of the kind described in Specifications Nos. 13,227 and 18,488, A.D. 1904, for evaporating and concentrating brewers' wash, spent wash, or pot ale from distilleries, waste or spent dyes, &c., applicable also as a smoke-washer. The chamber c may be placed between a flue a and a chimney or ship's funnel b, and is divided into compartments d by baffles or dampers e which are provided with openings at the centres and ends alternately so that the smoke &c. is caused to take a sinuous course. The chamber d may be put in or out of connexion by n eans of the door g. The liquid is supplied through jets x which are preferably opposed in pairs so that the sprays shall meet. The unevaporated liquid flows into the receptacle f. The baffles e may be fixed or removable, and may each be made in one or in two parts.
