PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for evaluating the degree of renal function or tubular disorder and a method for discriminating a diabetic patient having decreased renal function or a diabetic patient having renal tubular disorder. According to the present invention, a method for evaluating the degree of renal dysfunction or renal tubule disorder and renal function, including a step of measuring a level of DNA methylation specific to tubular cells of cells present in urine. A method for determining a diabetic patient with a decreased renal tubule disorder or a diabetic patient with renal tubular disorder is provided.
