To provide methods for treating low risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), intermediate risk-1 MDS, or del(5q) MDS those characterized by refractory anemia, refractory neutropenia, refractory thrombocytopenia, refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts, refractory cytopenia with multilineage dysplasia, refractory cytopenia with multilineage dysplasia and ringed sideroblasts, refractory anemia with excess blast-1, refractory anemia with excess blasts-2, or refractory anemia with excess blasts in transformation, as well as methods for reducing or reversing resistance of the lenalidomide, or re-sensitizing the MDS to the lenalidomide.SOLUTION: A composition comprising a protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) inhibitor of the following structure is administered.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
