An object of the present invention is to solve the problem that the nitrogen oxide reduction performance is deteriorated in the process of lowering after the internal temperature of the internal combustion engine rises. In addition, another object of the present invention is to prevent the need to separately regenerate the catalyst during the operation of the internal combustion engine. The Ir-based catalyst with improved nitrogen oxide reduction performance by carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas according to the present invention is a catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) by using carbon monoxide (CO) in exhaust gas as a reducing agent. After firing in humid air, it is characterized in that carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas are mixed and passed through the feed gas.
