The present invention adapts a vehicle control strategy of a road vehicle that operates a fixed route that is repeatedly used to reach a predetermined destination via at least one geographical zone associated with at least one environmental regulation. The present invention relates to a method and a system. Once the vehicle is identified as approaching a geographic zone, one or several vehicles have access to historical data collected during the past pass through the zone and based on historical data and environmental regulations Adapt vehicle control strategies within the same geographic zone. The present invention is based on the knowledge that a vehicle traveling along a repeatedly used route can meaningfully utilize history data regarding past passage of the route when the vehicle control strategy is adapted.
