The fault early warning method comprises: establishing a performance parameter database of a converter (101), the performance parameter database comprising performance parameter sets of multiple functional components of the converter collected when the converter experiences at least one fau extracting features from the performance parameter sets in the performance parameter database so as to obtain a fault feature parameter database (102), the fault feature parameter database comprising at least one fault and at least one fault feature parameter group corresponding to each fault, and each fault feature parameter group comprising multiple fault feature parameters regarding the multiple functional components of the converter; and executing neural network modeling on the basis of the at least one fault in the fault feature parameter database and the at least one fault feature parameter group corresponding to each fault, so as to obtain a fault early warning model that shows the mapping among the fault and the fault feature parameters (103).
