In some aspects, the present invention relates to a selectively permeable cell culture container storage container and methods of use thereof. In some embodiments, the container includes a gas permeable membrane that is selectively impermeable to water vapor. An improved cell culture incubator has been developed that allows long-term culture of cells under automated conditions with minimal human involvement. Such incubators provide automation and monitoring equipment directly within the incubator cabinet, allowing cells to be manipulated and monitored directly within the incubator cabinet.
