The present application relates to the technical field of genetic breeding, and provides a method for identifying presence or absence of self-compatibility of a diploid potato. The method relates to identifying whether an StSCI gene in the diploid potato is transcribed and expressed. Also disclosed is a method for using a molecular mark to identify whether the StSCI gene is expressed, and selecting the molecular mark, comprising: obtaining the genome sequence information of parental materials, selecting different sites of the parental materials, selecting the molecular mark, and identifying whether the selected molecular mark is usable.
