Systems and methods related to dual connectivity (DC) for wireless devices in a wireless communication network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, dual connectivity for a wireless device such that the wireless device is configured to utilize the resources provided by both the master node and the secondary node in the wireless communication network. Disclosed is a method at a secondary node for providing a with a master node. The method comprises receiving a release request from the master node. The release request is a request to release the wireless device context of the wireless device or release resources for the wireless device. The method further comprises sending a release refusal to the master node. Release rejection is an indication that the secondary node rejects the release request.
