The present invention develops a method for determining a spectrum and for identifying a change in the distance between a spectrometer device (10) and a measurement object (1) while the spectrum is generated, comprising the steps of setting (S1) a first reception wavelength for light from the measurement object (1); detecting (S2) the light with the first reception wavelength over a first measurement period (t1) at the start of the spectrum determination; determining (S3) the spectrum of the light from the measurement object (1); setting (S4) a second reception wavelength for the light from the measurement object (1); detecting (S5) the light with the second reception wavelength over a second measurement period (t2) at the end of the spectrum determination; and comparing (S6) the first measurement signal (M1) to the second measurement signal (M2), the change in the distance between the spectrometer device (10) and the measurement object (1) being identified in the case of a significant difference between the first measurement signal (M1) and the second measurement signal (M2).
