According to various embodiments, a method (100) for monitoring the structural integrity of a component (1) is provided, wherein a predefined structural integrity of the component to be monitored (1) is first determined, and wherein the current structural integrity of the component to be monitored (1) is monitored by means of a flexible sensor structure (200). A warning signal is output, for example, if the current structural integrity of the component (1) to be monitored deviates from the predefined structural integrity of the component (1) to be monitored.
