To provide an inventory quantity transition simulation method that can predict the transition of the inventory quantity by product type in a practical calculation time without the necessity of determining the transportation rules for each situation in detail.SOLUTION: An inventory quantity transition simulation method according to the present invention is the inventory quantity transition simulation method for predicting a transition of an inventory quantity of intermediate products in a storage area provided for a production line and a transportation line, and includes; a step of inputting input information including information on the quantity of intermediate products and route information between storage places through which the intermediate products can pass; a step of creating a mathematical model including constraint expressions and evaluation functions based on the input information; and a step of outputting the transition of the inventory quantity of the intermediate product at the storage location based on the created mathematical model. Here the information on the quantity of intermediate products is treated as a continuous quantity based on the weight of intermediate products summarized for each product type.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
