Provided is a gate device that contributes to achieving efficiency of an immigration examination system. The gate device is provided with a communication unit and a switching unit. The communication unit communicates with a management server that calculates a ratio of users having a first nationality to the total number of users who undertake emigration and immigration examination and that determines an operation mode of the gate device on the basis of the calculated ratio of the users. The switching unit switches the operation mode concerning emigration and immigration examination of a person to be examined to the operation mode determined by the management server.
