An embodiment of the present application discloses a method and apparatus for determining the validity of a point of interest based on Internet text mining. An embodiment of the method includes: determining a set of search terms for indicating a detected point of interest; acquiring a descriptive information set for describing a detected POI by performing a search using the determined search term as a search keyword; and inputting the name of the detected point of interest and description information in the description information set into a pre-built validity determination model to obtain a status tag for indicating the validity of the detected point of interest. The above embodiment can discover the expired POI information in real time. Therefore, it provides more accurate information to the user to meet the user's needs and improve the user experience.
