An integrated circuit (IC) comprising one or more printed transformer-based matching networks is disclosed, comprising: a) a printed transformer having a plurality of internal ports in the form of electromagnetic discontinuities introduced along a lateral dimension of the printed transformer at least one printed transformer-based matching network of reduced size comprising: a reactive element added to an internal port to increase the order of the transformer-based matching network, wherein one or more reactive elements are printed along a transverse dimension of the matching network; a printed component connected to the input port of the matching network; and a printed component coupled to an output port of the matching network.
