To provide nanoparticles consisting of monoclinic zirconia having a tetragonal phase less or substantially not included.SOLUTION: The monoclinic zirconia based nanoparticles are zirconia fine particles having D50 of 20 nm or less in the distribution of particle size. (1) The zirconia fine particles include a zirconia monoclinic phase, and (2) a diffraction peak does not substantially exists in a range of 2θ=29.74-30.74 degrees in a diffraction pattern obtained by the powder X-ray diffraction analysis of the zirconia fine particles.SELECTED DRAWING: None
