What is proposed is an antenna box (20) for RFID readers, in particular for table applications, in particular in the field of medical technology, having at least two mutually opposing metal conductive side walls (7, 8) that are connected to one another by the same base (6) and thereby form a rectangular waveguide that is open on at least one, preferably on two sides that are connected to one another, wherein an antenna structure in the form of a dipole or of a dipole array is arranged on the base (6) of the antenna box (20) and is oriented such that it excites an H2O wave type in the antenna box (20) during operation.
