Disclosed is a space layout method suitable for urban updating construction. Urban roads, underground space facilities, an urban water system and urban greenbelts are involved, wherein the urban roads are arranged among existing neighborhood buildings, the urban greenbelts are arranged beside the urban roads, the underground space facilities are arranged at the bottom of one side of the urban greenbelts, and the urban water system is arranged on the other side of the urban greenbelts. The urban greenbelts are arranged by using excavated soil generated by underground space facility construction and urban water system renovation, such that the land parcel terrain is remodeled, and the space level is enriched; and the functions of urban travel, rest, flood control and drainage etc. can be fulfilled, urban spatial forms can also be enriched, land is intensively used, and project investment is saved on. The new-type space layout method is also advantageous in promoting the intensive construction of projects, overcomes the disadvantage of sporadic split project construction, improves production efficiency, shortens the construction period and reduces the impact.
