The invention relates to a method for operating an electrically propelled motor vehicle (1),which has a high voltage battery (12) and a low voltage battery (14) and can drive autonomously. In a state in which the motor vehicle (1) is parked, the charging status of the low-voltage battery (14) is monitored at least for a minimum parking period. When a limit value is reached for a quantity defined for the state of charge, the motor vehicle (1) drives autonomously to a charging station (30),so that the low voltage battery (14) is recharged there.
