The invention relates to the cosmetic use of an extract of the Nephelium lappaceum plant to reduce the harmful effects of pollution on the skin and/or the skin appendages, advantageously the hair, by maintaining and/or increasing the cell viability and/or ATP synthesis and/or mitochondrial activity and/or decreasing cell senescence and/or cell damage. The extract of N. lappaceum makes it possible to increase the radiance of the complexion of the skin and/or the cutaneous appendages, advantageously of the hair.
