The split tensile test methodology has been established for the concrete spheriform specimens with the principal stress ratio 61:62:63=0.24:0.24一1 in order to study the tensile-tensile-compressive tri-axial strength With the application of universal material testing machine and split Hopkinson pressure bar, the quasi-static and dynamic spitting tensile tests have been exerted for the concrete spheriform specimens with 1%steel fiber dosage In the quasi-static test, the average strain rate of the steel fiber reinforced concrete specimens was 8.3 x 10-SS-' and the split tensile strength was 0.77MPa, which was consistent with the existing papers. In high strain rate test, the average strain rate was 170s-' and the split tensile strength was 1.O1MPa. Compared with the quasi-static testing results, it has shown that the split tensile strength of steel fiber reinforced concrete increases with the rise of strain rate. The split tensile test methodology established in the present paper was simple and inexpensive, with the strength obtained locating on the meridian plane of tension and compression, which has practical significance.
