With the network security is becoming more and more severe, more and more researchers focus their attention on data mining technologies oriented intrusion detection. A lot of achievements are improving the performance of intrusion detection system. The applications in intrusion detection of the representative mining methods including association rules mining, classification and clustering are reviewed. The challenges they currently face in intrusion detection and the corresponding strategies have been analyzed. Some noticeable work for further improving the intrusion detection Including parallel mining, data stream mining and reliable computing are discussed.
