摘要

Protection system is an indispensable part of power network to keep power components secure and reliable. Protective relay testing become more and more important when many new protection algorithms emerge owing to the development of new technologies. In this paper, a hardware-in-the-loop real time simulation platform is developed based on OpalRT's eMEGAsim simulator and ABB Relion relays. Data exchange and communication is conducted by IEC 61850 protocols. The implementation and testing of an adaptive inverse time overcurrent relay strategy is introduced to show the simulation progress on this new platform. The related case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed protection strategy and the strong capability of the hardware-in-the-loop real time simulation platform.
