Simulation tools (war games, operational mobility models…) require vehiclernperformance data, for military unit movements. If mobility models are to be useful to computernspeeds and predict no-go scenarios (on and off-road), input data is needed for all vehicles andrnterrain.rnObtaining vehicles characteristics for ones own country is relatively easy, but it is a real problemrnfor allied and foe forces. Jane’s is a useful bibliography reference for this, but its datarnspecifications are generally very poor to model a vehicle. Moreover, there is another problemrnwith the terrain definition because there are different types of roads, trails and off-road terrainsrnwhose descriptions are not the same for everyone.rnFor these two reasons, the predictions of vehicle speed on indeterminate roads, tracks andrnground paths of an operational country map, a new approach in the area of mobility analyticalrncalculation was developed.rnThe purpose of this paper is to describe this simplified process and to present a spin-off in therndomain of performance specifications.
