Many systems are developed from a technical perspective. Our system engineers, and system architects have great ideas and normally we try to convince potential costumers to buy our wonderful new product. What we mostly forget is to think from the customers perspective and consider how this new product can be used in their organization. This seems like an open door, but requires a different attitude in thinking. This paper is about how we dealt with the problem of defining a Maritime Safety and Security system (MSS system) that could be sold throughout the world.
