For more than a century, the development of electric boats has never been as flourishing as to-day.rnMany examples, in the fields of pleasure boats, public transport of passengers or houseboats forrnwaterways tourism as well, show that a new demand is taking place, while the corresponding offer isrnenhanced by the progress achieved in the electric road vehicles industry. After quoting the variousrnsources of energy used by the electric propulsion of boats, this paper gives details on the trials of 2rncurrent “all-electric boats” built under the scientific leadership of the IXL Laboratory.
