摘要

Electrosppining of blends of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and carbon microparticles was studied, aiming at to obtain composite fibers in the nanometer range. We intend to explore the reduced dimensions and the high surface area to volume and high length to diameter ratios of these nanoscopic materials, to obtain chemical sensor. The results of SEM, FTIRS and Raman analyses reveal that carbon microparticles are incorporated into the as deposited fibers. This incorporation may facilitate the conversion to a carbon fiber during subsequent thermal annealing. The fibers with incorporated carbon show an irregular shape and the variations in the diameter of their smooth sections increase almost linearly with the increase of the carbon concentration in the blend.
