摘要

This paper describes a layout compactor tool which uses a variation of the virtual grid representation method. The layout compactor requires less memory than the original algorithm and it does not need a double linked list to reference objects. This tool also takes into consideration the variation in size and shape of transistors and their respective wells and is independent from the hardware platform as it has been written in the Java Language. Such description in Java offers several benefits like portability, reusability and flexibility in the migration to appletsaiming at the creation of a tool that could be used through a browser. The XML language has also been used to describe the project rules and create a representation model which could be portable between platforms. Finally, this article also presents a model of objects to solve the compactor problem using UML tools in the presentation.
