The Momentum Traffic Management conceptrnis based on momentum information in traffic. Momentum isrnthe product of mass and speed of an object and thatrninformation is measured by one of the cornerstones of thernmanagement system, the sensors which gather informationrnin traffic. The new road measurement system, thern“Momentum Quantifier”, which is a sensor installed in thernroad, enables real-time decision-making at managementrnlevel and gets support from the new characterisation modelrnfor vehicles in traffic.rnWith the information of each tire the MomentumrnQuantifier produces, autonomous systems can be created torndetect and warn possibly dangerous vehicles in traffic.rnCongestion management can be supported by the accuraterninformation on individual vehicle behavior in traffic, e.g.rnacceleration curve, mass distribution of cargo and vehicle,rnspeed etc.rnRegulations based on mass and speed, i.e. momentum,rncreate a safer traffic compared to regulations solely based onrnspeed.
