摘要

Abstract: Primate inferotemporal cortex (IT) is thought to beessential for object recognition. To investigate thefunctional organization in IT, optical imaging based onintrinsic signals was carried out. The featurescritical for the activation of single cells were firstdetermined in unit recordings with electrodes. In thesubsequent optical imaging, presentation of thecritical features activated patchy regions covering thesite of the electrode penetration at which the criticalfeature had been determined. These results directlyindicate the regional clustering of cells with similarstimulus selectivity and demonstrate the feasibility ofoptical imaging technique for the study of associationcortex.!6
