摘要

Environmental and toxicity concerns with hypergolic propellants have led to a resurgence of interest in hydrogen peroxide for various propellant applications. Major issues, however, with hydrogen peroxide are catalytic decomposition, materials compatibility and storage stability. The NASA Johnson Space Center White Sands Test Facility has developed techniques to monitor the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide over a range of temperatures. Using isothermal microcalorimetry we have measured decomposition rates showing the effects of temperature, materials of construction and stabilizer packages on the decomposition. In this presentation we detail the results of these studies and include an interlaboratory/intermethod comparison of measured rates of decomposition.
