Limited slip differentials make a considerable contribution to improvement of the longitudinal dynamics of a vehicle and also offer significant influence over the lateral dynamics. The combination of two controllable limited slip devices, with short activation and release times, demonstrates measurable and perceivable improvements on a test vehicle. These improvements should be considered in the design of future ESP control strategies and thus lead to a less aggressive and, from the driver's perspective, a more enjoyable, system.
