Fault block oilfields exist widespread in eastern China. Because the law of oil accumulation in complex fault block oilfields is determined by fault sealing properties, it is the key to analyze whether the faults are sealing or not in qualitative and quantitative way to judge the effectiveness of a trap. Through the research of the typical complex fault block oilfields in eastern China, we put forward the conception of fault sealing models. According to the factors affecting the degree of fault sealing, we point out six types of fault sealing model: the principal stress model, rock styles juxtaposition model, the model of disposition of formation occurrence on both sides of fault surface, the relationship between fault activity and oil immigration model, and shale smears and shale sheared zones model. Fault sealing models are very important to guide the exploration and development oilfields.
