摘要

A friction sensor has been developed specifically for use in the Capstan test rig; Sheet Metal Forming Simulator. From data collected from the Capstan test, the average pressure, friction stress and coefficient of friction for the area of contact between the sheet metal strip and pin can be determined. The sensor was used to determine these values at points within the contact area. The sensor data shows that the normal and friction stresses increase from the inlet to outlet of the test. The coefficient of friction was found to remain constant. There was no gradient of stresses vertically across the strip.
