摘要

Calcium phosphate cement was developed as an injectable bone substitute material which has many advantages of higher compression strength more than normal cancellous bone and early bone conduction activity. This report concerns with the results of basic research of material resorption, tissue reaction involving osteo-conduction, and clinical application of the calcium phosphate cement to the treatment of osteoporotic fractures. The injectable calcium phosphate cement is a useful material for fixation and stabilization of fractures, especially in osteoporotic bone, such as femoral neck fracture, fractures of distal end of the radius, and the compression fracture of the thoraco-lumber spine. The outcomes suggest that the calcium phosphate cement has not only the osteo-conductive activity, but also the bone replaceability, which will make a change on the concept of fracture treatment.
