Accurate logging-while-drilling (LWD) borehole caliper datarnare important for drilling, logging and well completion. Arnsingle, accurate LWD caliper can greatly minimize risk andrnimprove quality by bringing critical new information tornthese applications.rnPresently, an LWD azimuthal density porosity tool canrnprovide three different hole-size measurements. In addition tornan ultrasonic caliper, a neutron-derived and a density-derivedrncaliper have been recently introduced. Each method hasrndifferent advantages and limitations that are related to thernphysics of the measurement and environmental conditions.rnThis paper provides an overview of the ultrasonic caliper, thernnew neutron- and density-derived calipers and also describesrnthe applicability range of each measurement. A method is alsornproposed to integrate the different techniques in order to formrna single, robust and accurate LWD caliper. Examples of thernindividual and integrated calipers from an azimuthal densityrnporosity tool are presented.
