The Gas Technology Institute (GTI) is developing alternative shoring systems that meetrnthe specific needs of gas utility companies. Traditional shoring systems are not versatilernenough to accommodate increasingly congested excavations. Additionally, traditionalrnshoring systems are heavy, difficult to transport and install, and expensive.rnAlternative shoring systems are being developed at GTI that are lightweight andrnversatile enough to be built around other crossing utility lines. The goal of this programrnis to increase the use of shoring in congested excavations and decrease the time and costrnassociated with transporting and installing shoring.
