Countries globally are considering and implementing a wide range of curbs onrngreenhouse gases (GHG), including a specific focus on reduction of carbon emissions.rnThe refining industry, which is highly carbon intensive, thus faces potentially majorrnchanges in response to these changing regulations. This presentation will review thernissues associated with carbon emissions from refining, the impact on capital planning andrneconomics, and some potential upsides related to carbon trading and credit opportunities.rnExample Case Studies will be reviewed of how the revenue associated with thernmeasurement, verification and marketing of environmental attributes can significantlyrnimpact a project's performance. A financial mechanism providing additional revenuernstreams to projects that reduce GHG can be employed by refinery plrnfinancing entities. The presentation will have thrn1. Overview of refining prospectsrn2. Industry investment requirements and potential carbon impactrn3. Current regulations and prospects regarding carbonrn4. Case studies showing impact on refining investmentsrn5. Conclusions.
